Weer'd World has a post regarding the so-called tactical reload which tripped my trigger (so to speak).
Jim Higginbotham
He discusses two variants of the technique (with accompanying video).
Worthy of your attention.
One of the links here is to the Western Rifle Shooters Association which contains not only excellent technique, but analysis by Jim Higginbotham accompanied by some fine responding commentary by readers.
Examples:

  • Don’t go to the range without a covering garment – unless of course you always carry your gun exposed (no comment).
  • Don’t practice drawing your gun fast – ever! – while standing still.
  • "GET OFF THE X" don't stand there, move your fat ass or you will be dead.
  • "SHOOT THEM TO THE GROUND" shoot the bad guy till he is not moving anymore. This may require a reload. Since this may require more than 5 rounds to accomplish you might want to dump that J frame as your main carry gun.
I know many CCWs who might find the above passages offensive or disturbing, as the bulk of their training takes place in public ranges, where drawing from leather, engaging targets, reloading and moving might be frowned upon.  Against the rules.
Myself, being disabled, moving and shooting is problematic.  My hope is to find cover during the event ASAP, after the engagement takes place.  Hopefully, most of you are more mobile and agile!
Go to the link and watch the video!
